JAGADHRI YAMUNANAGAR TENNIS ASSOCIATION

Introduction

Formed under prime leadership of Founder President , Mr. Darshan Lal Garg, Jagadhri Yamunanagar Tennis Association finds it roots way back in the year 1974.

The Association achieved several landmarks but the major break through was achieved in the year 1981 when the Association organized a tournament an International Satellite Tournament. There were participants from around the globe taking the total number of participating foreign players to 32.The tournament was thoroughly supported by Thapar Group who provided all the basic facilities and amenities required for the players participating in the tournament at that time.

The Association also organized many other tournaments anually like Haryana Open Tournament in all age groups.In the pas many of the former well knownTennis Players like Enricho Peppernio, Nandan Bal, Sania Mirza,Zeeshan Ali have participated in the tournaments organized by Jagadhri Yamunanagar Tennis Association. Sania Mirza , the modern day Tennis star representing India played her first AITA tournament outside Hyderabad at the age of 10 in the year 1996 in Yamunanagar only.

History

In 1989, Jagadhri Yamunanagar Tennis Association became the part of Haryana Tennis Association. The Association was renamed as District Yamunanagar Tennis Association which in turn was again registered under the old name i.e Jagadhri Yamunanagar Tennis Assoication in December 2016.

Since the time it has been re-registered JYTA has organized the veterans tournaments in the age gropp of 35yrs and above. Recently we had organized a Haryana State ranking tournament for the children of 14 to 18 years category. We had participation of almost 120 players from all over the state.
